FIRST MUTUAL HEALTH DONATES ACCOUNTING BOOKS

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe (ICAZ) embarked on an initiative to donate A Level Accounting books to less privileged secondary schools in Zimbabwe. Since this initiative started in 2009 spearheaded by the ICAZ Mashonaland District Society committee, the Institute has donated a substantial number of accounting books to schools throughout Zimbabwe.

ICA,Z through this committee, has received a donation of USD$5,000.00 from First Mutual Health to procure 85 A Level accounting text books which include 60 Cambridge International AS / A level Accounting- Randall 2nd Edition and 25 Cambridge International AS/A Level Accounting- Ian Harris text books respectively.  These text books will be donated to high schools in the Manicaland province.

“The donation will go a long way and will encourage students to undertake accounting studies seriously from high school and eventually at university.  We are confident that these books will help the students to access new knowledge and that the books will also assist the accounting teachers in being effective in their tutoring” said the Managing Director for First Mutual Health, Mr Stanford Sisya.

This donation is in line with the First Mutual Holdings Limited corporate social responsibility programme which continues to mitigate the widening gap experienced by disadvantaged families who are unable to afford the tuition and education-related costs for their children, implemented through the First Mutual Foundation.  The Foundation’s main objective it to enhance children’s access to education through a bursary scheme which covers school fees and ancillary needs related to the learning experience.
